Today I was nominated to complete The Christmas Tag by Jeff Wood.
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
Obviously, it's Die Hard. Yes, it is a Christmas movie, there is snow, Christmas trees and terrorists trying to take over a building that John McClane is in (bad idea terrorists, bad idea). What's not Christmassy about that?
Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Yes. Not many, as England sucks weather wise. It's almost Christmas and we are still hitting ten degrees or more daily. A few years ago it was minus ten degrees at one point. It doesn't look like we'll be getting a white Christmas either this year.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Usually, we are home, we have Christmas dinner with my wife's family which usually consists of around 12 people. This year this isn't happening so it will just be my wife, me and our two children. It will be very weird but also nice to just have dinner with the four of us. Then we will be off out to the in-laws and then the sister-in-laws house before my parents come round on the evening (if you're reading this parents, this is me telling you that you'll be coming round to ours 😃)
What is your favourite Christmas song?
My favourite Christmas song has to be "Let it snow" by Vaughn Monroe. It couldn't be anything else really with Die Hard being my favourite Christmas film.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No, Christmas presents are for Christmas day. Nuff said.
Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer?
Probably not. Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer, Dasher, Vixen, Cupid. That's it, I have no idea what the rest are called.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
This year will be my little girls first proper Christmas, she was only a few months old last year. My little boy is 5 so Christmas will be great for him as he is very excited about all the presents that Santa will bring him. I hope to start a tradition of leaving "Santa" a glass of southern comfort and a bar of Dairy Milk to keep his reindeer energised, Probably won't happen though.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake, I have two children, a real one would just not work in our house. The bottom half of my tree is empty thanks to hurricane Alice throwing the baubles at Joseph every five minutes.
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Chocolates for breakfast obviously. You can't put weight on, on Christmas day so why not?
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Giving presents. Now I am older I'm not fussed about receiving anything as I have everything I want. Which is a happy and healthy family. I do love seeing my kids faces as they open their presents and get excited about everything they have got.
What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
Probably a HiFi system when I was younger, I loved listening to music and to have one in my own room was great!
What is your dream place to visit over the holiday season?
I think my wife would agree with me here, we would love to go to Disney World over Christmas. We have been several times and love but have not been over Christmas. As I work in retail I cannot get Christmas off, so, this will be a dream for way in the future.
Are you a pro present wrapper or fail miserably?
I am a moderate present wrapper. I don't go for the whole string and luggage tag though. I'm more of a write in a black felt tip on the wrapping paper kind of guy.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
Just getting older and listening to kids at school. By the time my mum told me I already had known for quite a while.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Just spending time with my family. This year instead of just getting Christmas day off work, I also get the next two days as well. Which means some quality time with my family.
Thanks again to Jeff for nominating me. I nominate my wife Kerry (One Hull of a Mum) and David from DadvWorld
